              Charles William Roussac

The fourth child of Auguste Gabriel Roussac and Jessie Thompson.

His birth date is uncertain as his name is not in the official records. However, he is recorded in the Burial Register as having died aged 39 thus suggesting he was born about 1837. Coincidentally, his mother, Jessie, née Thompson, died ‘after a long and painful illness’ at her residence at Clapham Common so perhaps this occurred following his birth.

At some point he sailed to India with his father.

By 1866 he is listed in the Calcutta Directory as resident at 38 Toltollah Lane, Calcutta. The following year the Directory lists him as a Ticket Printer for the East India Railway Co. then residing at 41 Moulvie Imdad Ally’s Lane, Calcutta. He appears to have continued as a ticket printer during subsequent years and eventually became Audit Superintendent for the E. I. Railway until his death on 23rd November 1876.
